About Cooroy

NOOSA'S TRENDY COUNTRY TOWN

Cooroy is located in the northern Sunshine Coast hinterland about 22 kilometres west of Noosa Heads. It is within the local government area of the Shire of Noosa. It is nicknamed "Heart of the Hinterland". If you are wanting to stay at the many cottages that surround the hills in the hinterland, this is the place to go.

Cooroy is a family friendly bustling hinterland town boasting a multitude of local attractions including nature and heritage experiences. The restored Butter Factory Arts Centre in the historic Cooroy Butter Factory showcases local and national artists and is part of the Cooroy Mill Place, a community and tourism hub featuring a state-of-the-art library and an interpretive walk through restored boilers and kilns. Walking, biking, horse-riding and bird trails traverse the area around Cooroy, and on the way, explore the Noosa Botanic Gardens with its magnificent amphitheatre on the shores of Lake Macdonald.

Restaurants and cafes boast a European and Asian flavour, sourcing local growers produce in the hinterland towns beyond Cooroy. We love this popular hinterland town.
