A very special area, larger than Sunrise Beach but with less people - 3 sq km, but only just over 600 residents living in 282 properties with an astonishing 45% of the area a park!
Theodora and David have sold many properties in Castaways Beach but in particular, Tropicana Rise, Castaways Beach - with some gorgeous new homes having recently been constructed to optimise the ocean views and ease of access to the very dog friendly beach.
The locals love it because as they say there are no units there, only houses - well, not strictly correct, as Castaway Cove is a beachfront unit development of 25 apartments on the site of the old Castaways Motel, which was a renowned destination for romantic trysts, but it is across the road from the contiguous residential Castaways, So as far as they are concerned it’s not there. However, next door to the Cove is the Noosa Dunes development, a beachfront enclave and gated community of just 36 houses, which also boasts Kevin Rudd as a resident.
A high sale of $4.35million sets the scene for the quality of the property here. Sales statistics are described as "statistically unreliable" due to the comparatively low turnover and variance between a low sale of a house at $630,000 up to $2.025 million in the main Castaway residential area. As a rule of thumb, a million will get you something quite ok here.
With only 13 streets, it undulates across the dunes, and some streets back onto the Southern section of the Noosa National Park. There is steady turnover and strong demand for Castaways Beach – only about 5.5km from downtown Noosa Junction and the shops, it has the benefit of separation from the town but also easy access. One resident told me that they were happily prepared to drive the 2km to Sunrise Beach for a coffee and hoped Castaways stays this way – no commercial of any kind.
